The first product of the internal combustion engine manufacturing plant, an engine meant for coupling with the needle vibrator for the construction industry was launched on August 15, 1998, and there has been no looking back since.
The company began manufacturing engines for agricultural pump sets in 1998. Once SAEPL established a domestic base, especially in East India, the Villiers Vijay brand carved a special niche for itself in the hearts and minds of farmers and industrial users. Whether it was monobloc and priming pumps or pesticide sprayers and compressors, the Villiers Vijay engines generated customer satisfaction. Today more than 2100,000 Villiers Vijay engines are regularly in use throughout India and in our overseas market.
The ISI certification for its products, in December 1999, helped SAEPL in securing government contracts. Supplies of bare engines for use in pump sets and generator sets to Sri Lanka and Nigeria began at this time.
In July 2001, the company received from BVQI of Germany, the prestigious ISO 9001 Certification for manufacturing and marketing internal combustion engines.
The Entire SAEPL team is trained in 5S, a comprehensive Japanese working systems standard.
A full-fledged Research & Development department has begun functioning from April 2003. In less than 18 months, the SAEPL R&D team produced lightweight petrol engine, Vijay Champ, with superior performance levels. An engine driven by liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), manufactured using wholly indigenous technology has also been launched. The R & D team will shortly introduce sophisticated software that will result in increased life cycle of the components manufactured for our engines.
Villiers Vijay, the flagship brand, now branded Manam Villiers Vijay, is set to enter the Northeast markets of India. SAEPL is also targeting markets in Nepal, Philippines and Thailand, and exploring possible joint ventures with overseas partners.
